on a day like this

I’m not going to pretend to know a lot about devastation and loss. I have never experienced a natural disaster that left me afraid, homeless or hurt. I have never had to worry about where my next meal was coming from. I have always had a roof over my head and gas in my car. I’ve always had a car too. Today I’ve experienced many of the benefits that come from the everyday advantages of NOT being ransacked by a hurricane. Running water. Electric heat and lighting. Internet. Most of all I have held loved ones. I have laughed and felt care-free. That’s so much more than most can say on a day like today. My heart is aching for those affected by the storm. I am giving thanks for all that I have today… I’m praying for the east coast. And I’m offering myself to God to show me what if anything else can I be doing.
I am hoping for rainbows.
